Universities are starting to realize the potential of big data: Arizona State University is using data mining to predict which students will succeed in a class or a major, recommend courses, and more.The University also has software that tailors online courses to a student's performance level. Austin Peay State University uses a program like Netflix's recommendation engine to compare a student's record to thousands of grade and test score records to recommend courses that they will succeed in and that are matched to requirements.
