Karen Agustiawan is an Asia Energy and Sustainability Initiative senior visiting fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School. Her research focuses on Indonesia’s tremendous potential for renewable energy as well as examining the country’s energy challenges more broadly. She has held various technical and managerial positions in within Mobil Oil Indonesia, Mobil Oil Dallas USA, CGG Petrosystems Indonesia, Landmark Concurrent Solusi Indonesia and Halliburton Indonesia. She Joined Pertamina, the national oil and gas company of Indonesia in 2006 as expert staff to the CEO for upstream businesses. In March 2008, Agustiawan was appointed as corporate senior vice president, upstream. She was appointed as President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) in February 5, 2009 and re-appointed as President Director/CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero) in March 5, 2013.
